Little Woman, Big City

Yesterday marked a new chapter in my life. After having spent the last 7 1/2 years in Buffalo, I accepted a job opportunity in New York City. Everything happened so quickly that I had to move back in with my parents… YIKES! But that warrants a separate rambling sesh all together.

No, physically I’m not a little woman… I’m 5’5″ (& 1/2), so almost 5’6″… And with heels at LEAST 5’9″. But when you consider a single person on get the sea of 8.2 million people all in about 300 sq ft, I’m pretty small.

I can’t tell you I was entirely all that confident moving down this weekend. To be perfectly honest I was terrified.

Yesterday I woke up 5 hours earlier than usual. Ate my oatmeal, let the dogs out and drove to the Hicksville train station. I purchased a weekly LIRR pass and hoped on the 7:06am train to Penn Station. I arrived in the city like 45 minutes early so I took my sweet time walking the block and a half to my new office on W 35th.

Emerging from the 34th and 7th Ave Penn exit, Starbucks in hand, I immediately felt a rush of relief. This is where I belong.

So here’s to new beginnings and a new exciting chapter in my life. Hopefully yesterday’s feelings continue to prevail!
