Life-is-a-journey-not-a-destination-Simple-Sojourns--640x480

While I impatiently waited the 30 seconds for the “beep, beep, boop…” version of a “Loading…” message to lead me to my new post page, my brain decided to go off on a little tangent. Although, I suppose it isn’t so far off base, being a reflection on my impatience.

Ever hear the phrase “Life is a journey, not a destination”? Of course you have, or at least some interpretation of Ralph Waldo Emerson’s famous quote. I don’t know about you, although I am comfortable in implying many may share this outlook, but I have been raised in a fast-paced, high-demand society that looks towards results.

Whether it’s getting the job or getting the job done, shopping, eating, transportation, love, etc. We want it and we want it now. I most definitely fall into this mentality. In fact, in conjunction with personal reminders, I have wonderful friends and family who like to tell me that “patience just isn’t one of my virtues”.

2015 has been declared my year of balance, so why shouldn’t I roll in working on my patience? At the advice of a good friend, I wrote my first letter to the universe this past Wednesday. Before I asked the Universe for some help with my career, relationships and personal goals, I shared a moment of reflection. I offered my sincere gratitude for the hardships I have experienced throughout my life, without which I would not be the person I am today. The letter was ended with a request of support and the acknowledgement that all that I had asked for would come with new, welcomed journeys. Afterall, I am not the person I was yesterday and not the person I will be tomorrow.

So there you have it. The 30 seconds this webpage took to load lended to thinking about what a computer and a network has to go through to load this particular webpage, or any for the matter, then to considering my own journey in life, clearly longer than 30 seconds, but it’s all relative right?

Here’s to making the most of our time, enjoying every step of the way and pitstop we make.
